Saturday, April 9 – Our crate arrived, and, apparently, exploded in our bedroom! It actually arrived in Sentani earlier this week but we didn’t have a way to get it up here until today. Today Dan flew up from Sentani (he has been there for a couple of days) and all the contents of our crate made it on his plane!
Sunday, April 10 – Claire got sick on Friday night in the middle of the night (see previous post) and so we have had her on antibiotics since yesterday. Also on the regimen is Tylenol and/or Motrin for her pain – poor kid!
Monday, April 11 – One of the things we brought in our crate is this play kitchen from IKEA. Yes, Dan could have made one from all the crate wood we have laying around 🙂 but one thing we don’t have is good woodworking tools here. So we decided just to buy this one since we were sending a crate anyway! The girls LOVE it, if you can’t tell by the silly smile on Claire’s face!
Tuesday, April 12 – Another of our crate “goodies.” Dan found this old gumball machine that his parents have had in storage for many years, and we just had to bring it back with us (and gumballs to fill it, too, of course!) One of Natalie’s most memorable highlights of furlough was getting treats/gum from the “turning things” (vending machines) in the mall, etc, so we thought it would be fun to have our very own “turning thing” machine at home! Even though you don’t actually turn a knob to work it… it’s a lever that slides over… 🙂
Wednesday, April 13 – A typical evening at our house. Watching TV while I work on my latest knitting project 🙂
Thursday, April 14 – This is an interesting flower that grows in our yard. The plant itself has leaves that look suspiciously like marijuana leaves, but then it also has these really strange flowers that bloom out of the top of the plant. Just something weird in our yard, I have no idea what it is!
Friday, April 15 – Claire was being silly with the broom and “helping” our house helper sweep the porch this morning!
Saturday, April 16 – We had some Easter-type activities this morning with our friends. First we colored boiled eggs while the hubbys hid eggs in our back yard. Then the kids went and had an Easter egg hunt, and after that we sorted out the Resurrection eggs that were among them, and Amber used those eggs to tell the Easter story. We decided to do the egg coloring and Easter egg hunt today instead of next weekend so that we can focus more on the real meaning of Easter next weekend.
Sunday, April 17 – Claire loves riding her new bike around our house (yes, inside!) Here she just rode down the hallway and is now showing me how she can stand up on the seat of her bike!
Monday, April 18 – My t-shirts were taking over my drawer so I decided to buy some more clothes hangars and hang them in my closet. I love the rainbow colors! Yes, I wear mostly t-shirts. And yes, they are mostly solid colors! That’s just me!
Tuesday, April 19 – More beautiful flowers in our yard. I believe these are cosmos. I just love the beauty that is all around us!
Wednesday, April 20 – Today we went to go see a Papuan friend who has recently had a baby. This little baby’s mother and father work with the street kids here in Wamena – such a needed ministry, but so difficult. Natalie wanted to hold him, and thought he was SO cute!
